Clinic on Wheels Punjab 2025 – Free Healthcare at Your Doorstep

The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a groundbreaking initiative – the Clinic on Wheels Program 2025. This scheme is designed to deliver free, accessible, and high-quality healthcare to millions of people, particularly those living in urban slums, rural villages, and underserved communities across the province.

With more than 900 fully equipped mobile health clinics now operational, this program is one of the largest public healthcare outreach projects in Pakistan’s history.

What Is the Clinic on Wheels Program?

Clinic on Wheels

The Clinic on Wheels is a mobile hospital system where specially designed vehicles provide medical care directly in local communities.

Each vehicle is staffed by qualified doctors, nurses, Lady Health Visitors (LHVs), dispensers, and vaccinators, and equipped with modern diagnostic tools.

Key Milestones:

  • Launched: May 10, 2024
  • Services Started: May 13, 2024
  • Phase Two Expansion (2025): 911 mobile clinics deployed

Fleet Composition:

  • Passenger Vehicles: 202 units (staff & medicines)
  • Ultrasound Vehicles: 42 units
  • Expanded Vans (2025): 911 across Punjab, including tribal & rural zones

Why Focus on Urban Slums?

Clinic on Wheels

Around 7.2 million people in Punjab live in urban slums, where overcrowding, poor sanitation, and unsafe water make residents highly vulnerable to disease. Only 57.2% have access to basic healthcare, leaving a massive gap compared to other urban areas.

These communities face high maternal and child mortality, frequent outbreaks of communicable diseases, malnutrition, and limited use of antenatal or neonatal services. Poverty, low education, and cultural barriers further prevent families—especially women and children—from seeking timely care. The Clinic on Wheels program directly addresses this crisis by bringing doctors, medicines, diagnostics, and preventive care to the doorstep of slum communities, closing the healthcare gap and ensuring equity in access.
